Model, Dancer, Performer and Multidisciplinary Artist currently based out of Portland, OR.
Kiyo is a Japanese American talent born in Tokyo and partially raised in Portland, OR. They have a bachelors with honors in Dance from the Institute of the Arts Barcelona in Spain. As well as a certification from being an apprentice for a contemporary company in the UK called Jasmin Vardimon Company.
As a model they have recently worked with Nike and Shopsounds in the US. Desigual and Nolands Eyewear in Spain. Currently independent and not signed with any agent/agencies. They hope to continue to aspire to bring representation in the beauty and sports industry as a nonbinary and queer artist.
They have experience working with photographers, creators, choreographers and stylists in and from places like Barcelona, London, Tokyo, New York and Portland. As well as a performer for shows and festivals like Loom in Barcelona for two consecutive years (a interdisciplinary arts festival held yearly).
In addition to modeling and dance, they enjoy creating art. Their most current work is in small crane installations and an art form from their family roots in Kyoto called Kintsugi. Their collaborative showing in result of their first artists residency with Shed.pdx at Paladar studio in Portland was in August of this year. They also enjoy working with mediums such as paint on canvas, deconstruction of garments and sketches. And hope to create more work that is thought provoking and empowers the asian american queer experience.
They helped organize community events this past year with fellow young aspiring artists and activists in the city. Such as speaking at the Stop Asian Hate event in Portland, helping organize an Asian market and Queer market to uplift marginalized voices and center performers who belong in these communities. And through their passion for intersectionality in gender, sexuality and racial equity. They hope to empower queer, poc and nonbinary people to celebrate their individuality and aspire to be different, unique and authentically themselves.
